Once again this year, "La Cour des comptes", located on rue Cambon, opens its doors to the public without reservation for the Heritage Days on September 21 and 22, 2024.
Founded in 1807 by Napoleon Bonaparte, it has occupied this imposing building, designed by the architect Constant Moyaux, since 1912. If you don't already know, the Cour des comptes is an independent control institution whose mission is to verify the use of public funds, and which also has the power to sanction offenders. It is there to ensure the transparency and efficiency of public management.
By visiting this place steeped in history, you will be able to discover confidential spaces, such as the Moinot Circle, reserved for intellectual and professional exchanges between members of the Court. Right next door, you will have a front row seat to the Grand'chambre, where the major deliberations are held. It is in this solemn room that the Court's decisions are rendered. You will also cross the Philippe Séguin Gallery, with its fresco by Bernar Venet. Finally, the highlight of the visit is the Chicago Tower. Imagine for the time, it was the first French skyscraper with its 10 levels and its height of 30 meters. It housed the archives of the Court until 2007.
